FLOWiNG EXPANSES

There's a hissing sound.

Water is running

It’s hot.

The first drops caress my hair,

Fall down on my head, as a gentle warm stroke.

Kissing my skin.

I feel each and every one of them as they make their way over my body.

They run from my head over my closed eyelids,

Snuggle against my cheeks and touch my lips.

I feel the weight of my skull and follow the gravity.

As I slowly tilt my head and give in to the weight,

My upper body bends forward, my arms surrender.

The drops search for new routes.

Rolling over my neck and shoulders.

Flowing over my arms until they reach my fingertips.

They connect with every single hair,

bring them all together,

Make them whole.

Dripping over my forehead,

over the hollow of my nose,

They gather in a large drop at the tip.

Falling recklessly,

Splashing on the tiles,

They melt with my feet, which are stable on the ground.

Every single drop connects with each other.

Whirling in restless streams,

A wall of water rises around me.

Gently blurring the light,

Into a thousand little twinkling sparks,

Dancing around me like a sea of stars.

They take each other by the hand,

rushing in endless circles.

Ever faster and ever deeper,

I dive with them into unknown depths.

The cool blue of the water slowly fades into a soft blue sky.

I follow the wind,

Floating through the summer sky.

He carries me through the hot summer air,

through the bright green leaves of a treetop,

And gently sets me back on the ground.

The grass embraces me,

Pulling me down into the depths.

Leading me through the labyrinth of countless gnarled roots,

spreading out in all directions

finding their way through the wet and cold earth.

I am amazed, not afraid of the power that pulled me down so suddenly.

It feels much more like home.

As if I’ve been here before.

The roots welcome me.

Hug me and open the gate to their heart.

I float in and settle down.

Surrounded by golden light,

I begin to remember.

I lost her,

back then on one of the many paths I’d taken.

Lost her because I was blind.

Didn't know where to go,

didn't know with whom,

didn't know what I was searching for.

She slipped out of my hand,

Crashed to the ground

and disappeared into the dark earth.

Growing in the darkness,

interwoven in an infinite net of sorrows,

She began to distance herself from me.

She called my name, many times,

Waiting for me in the dark,

Waiting to be found.

I was numb,

Couldn’t hear her lovely song.

Couldn’t hear her lovely voice.

I didn't want to stay, but had no place to go.

Wandering through gloomy lights to far and unknown lands.

Searching for her in places I'd never been before.

Day and night she drove me through the infinite widths of my self.

But I could find nothing.

Nothing but darkness and fear.

The fear of losing something, losing what I had already lost.

The water tickles my feet,

Wakes me up slowly,

Reminding me that she came back.

Feeling the water on my skin,

She unites with my body,

With my soul.

Turning of the tap,

I step out of the shower.
