Following a mad wish for eternal youth, a portrait of Dorian Gray ages in his stead. Dorian’s pathological narcissism and self-centredness drive him from one hedonistic and intoxicating transgression to the next – be it personal, social or sexual. None of his deeds – not even a murder he commits – leave the slightest trace in his outward appearance. His portrait, on the other hand, depicts a monster after 18 years of debauchery. Dorian, however, may not be the only one responsible for what he becomes, as he is the perfect mirror for his parasitic environment. This English-language production with London-Based actors at Euro Theater Central illustrates with Dorian’s example how each of us are both the victims and abusers of our own souls.
